Nashville Prom 101

prom stock photoI remember my prom.  It was a blur of friends, music and sadness to be saying goodbye. But it also filled me with happiness to finally be free of high school as an independent adult!  I felt ready to take on the world.

But now I’ve grown up and have children of my own.  Looking back, I can truly see that I might have been 18 years old, but I was far from making the mature decisions of an adult. When you factor in the many different elements that can impact a teen driver – talking on cells phones, drinking, speeding and other distractions – it’s really a no-brainer to get a limousine on prom night.  My parents knew this and made sure that on my prom night my friends and I had safe, reliable and fun transportation. We had our own stretch limo! It was so cool to be all together in the back and have the chauffeur open the door for us. I will never forget it.

But most importantly, my parents knew that I’d be in safe hands and have a blast. With some due diligence and planning, your child can travel in style and security to one of the most special celebrations of his or her young life.

Ask plenty of questions.

  • How old is the limousine being offered?
  • What is the vehicle passenger capacity?
  • What is included in the package price (gratuity)?
  • Will a written contract be prepared?
  • Is the company fully licensed and insured?
  • Would it be possible to view the vehicle?

Look for affiliations.

A reputable provider will have relationships with industry governing bodies, including the National Limousine Association (NLA) or the Tennessee Livery Association. Companies may also be members of the local Chamber of Commerce or the Better Business Bureau.

Consider a bus!

Should your child want to travel with a large group of friends, please consider a party bus service.  These large limousine-style buses can house larger numbers of passengers than a standard stretch limousine.

Availability is Limited

This is simply a matter of supply and demand. Prom season competes closely with wedding season and vehicle availability can be limited. In most instances, it is a first come first served basis. The only way to guarantee service, with the desired vehicle, is to reserve early and get everything in writing.
