First Ground Transportation App in Middle Tennessee
will Benefit the Metro Police Support Fund with Each Reservation
Grand Avenue, the area’s leading ground transportation company, today announced the launch of the first app in Middle Tennessee that allows individuals to book transportation from their mobile devices. To mark the occasion, Grand Avenue President and CEO Carl Haley announced the company will donate $1 per every reservation made with Grand Avenue from this day forward to support the Metro Nashville Police Department.
At an event with Metro Police Chief Steve Anderson at Grand Avenue’s downtown headquarters, Haley said he hopes the app will contribute to greater public safety in the region by making it easier for people to book transportation if they discover they have had too much to drink and cannot drive safely. Businesspeople and travelers also will benefit from being able to reserve transportation on the go with the app.
“People today want the ability to do anything and everything from their phones,” said Haley. “Now for the first time in Middle Tennessee, if you need to find a safe ride home or get a lift to the airport, you finally have a way to book travel anytime, anywhere with our app.”
The app is available at GrandAvenueWorldwide.com/app and allows users to book travel from an iPhone, iPad or Android device. Individuals also can use the app to receive a quote on future trips, review details on past and scheduled trips, track the status of flights, live chat with customer service, or call Grand Avenue directly for last minute changes or general assistance.
Haley anticipates the app will be particularly helpful to convention-goers who attend events at the new Music City Center.
“The Music City Center will soon bring thousands of new travelers to Nashville,” said Haley. “Rather than having to make a phone call at a busy trade show, they now can push a button on their phone and schedule a trip.”
Grand Avenue will donate $1 for every in-state trip booked with Grand Avenue from this point forward – either on the app, phone or website – to the Metro Police Support Fund, a component fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT). Currently,Grand Avenue books an estimated 2,000 trips per month – equaling an estimated donation of at least $2,000 each month.
Haley, a former police officer in Starkville, Miss., presented Chief Anderson with an initial donation of $1500 to the fund on Friday, in the company of members of the police department and CFMT President Ellen Lehman.
“The Metro Nashville Police Department is extremely grateful to Grand Avenue for this generous donation and for its commitment to support our fund for years to come,” said Chief Anderson. “Our officers are on the streets each day risking their lives to promote public safety and protect our citizens. It means the world to them when a local business like Grand Avenuesteps forward to demonstrate its gratitude for their work.”
Established in 2009, The Metro Police Support Fund provides scholarships to Nashville’s police for advanced training, supports programs that strengthen relations between the police department and the community, and purchases equipment to enhance service to the community—such as defibrillators in police vehicles.
“Our police department does tremendous work every day to keep our citizens and our roadways safe,” said Haley. “By creating this app and supporting the police fund at the Community Foundation, Grand Avenue hopes to make our roads safer by giving drivers easy access to a safe ride.”
